The necessary evil.
In one bottle, you get nourishment, hydration, and a balanced shot of macro and micronutrients to replenish your body before, during, or after a training session.
At first, I always thought about the famous “soylent green is people” catchphrase whenever thinking of a slurry to drink, and for a very long time, I refused to touch any smoothie/protein drink/whatever.
But I soon realised that a breakfast smoothie in the morning is one of my favourite things after a light coffee and some herbal tea: as my body craves hydration, I can squeeze in some needed nutrients that will help me throughout the day.
I do not hide: I have been reducing my meat intake over the last year and I am going somewhere else to pick my proteins.
But what about taste?
Generally speaking, the big bulky powder containers available in dedicated shops or supermarkets taste horribly fake.
Fake vanilla, fake chocolate, fake cookies.
Their artificial flavouring is gross, and I cannot overcome the feeling of eating something I should not.
So I put on my gastronomical hat on, and went around sipping here and there and finding some (powdered, commercially available) smoothies that, incredible but true, tasted good.
Wellness and gastronomy can go hand in hand. We saw it last week when talking about SHA Wellness Resorts, for example.
