What’s the perfect breakfast? asks SHA Wellness in a blog post.
It depends, I hope.
Despite the porridge galore that has taken the food community a storm in the past few years, a world of breakfast options is waiting to be explored.
Do we have to give in and munch on soaked oats, or can we indulge in that croissant?
Questions are often simple. Answers, however, are far more complicated.
Dr Maria Romeralo, expert nutritionist at SHA Wellness Clinic, proposes the following perfect breakfast model:
Start with delicious miso soup.
Continue with a porridge of rice or oatmeal (complex carbohydrates).
Accompany with a kukicha tea.
And for those who want extra protein, have hummus or energy bars from sunflower or pumpkin seeds, almonds or nuts.
I would love to start my day with a perfect miso soup and tea. I am brewing the latter, but I need to be more active in the first. At least to make authentic miso. I have recently started using pre-made miso, which has been a life changer.
It may be a bit higher in sodium and calories than a homemade one, but its gut-friendly ingredients provide all the benefits. Shortcuts are welcome in some cases.
